Village renews energy-saving program
YS News, February 2, 2014Yellow Springs saved more than one percent of its electric consumption over the last three years thanks to a community-wide energy-efficiency program.
Local residents and businesses took advantage of energy-efficient product rebates and discounts, light bulbs giveaways and free energy consulting to cut the town’s annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2 million pounds — the equivalent CO2 usage of 138 homes — since 2011.
Now the Village has extended its contract with Efficiency Smart to offer more services and incentives through 2016, with a goal to make even deeper cuts to the town’s electricity consumption.
