SynRM2 motor is IE5 efficiency without rare earth magnets

Building on the current IE4 ‘super premium efficiency’ standard, ABB’s ‘ultra-premium efficiency’ IE5 SynRM2 technology is claimed to reduce energy losses by a further 20% – and without rare earth magnets.

Presented at Hannover Fair 2014 in Germany, SynRM2 is an upgrade of ABB’s award-winning SynRM (synchronous reluctance) motor technology, launched in 2011.
