Eisenhower Pool gets lighting upgrade
The State Journal-Register, January 22, 2014The Springfield Park District has received about $20,000 worth of donations to upgrade lighting fixtures at Eisenhower Pool, 2351 E. Cornell St.
Springfield Electric donated 57 light fixtures and lamps for the project that had a combined value of more than $12,000. The Academy Swim Club Boosters raised more than $7,200 to pay installation costs. No park district funds were used.
Derek Harms, interim director of the park district, said the new lights are brighter and more energy efficient. The pool area, men’s locker room and women’s locker room received the lighting upgrades, which are estimated to reduce energy consumption by about 25 percent. That amounts to an estimated annual savings of about $1,400.
