Irving mill to save $82,000 a year with energy-efficient changesSt. John Valley Times, January 15, 2014
NASHVILLE PLANTATION, Maine – J.D Irving, Ltd. is expected to save $82,000 per year in energy costs at its Nashville Plantation sawmill facility due to improvements funded in part by a $181,761 grant from Efficiency Maine’s Large Customer Program.
Irving will install energy-efficient lighting and air compressors as part of its redevelopment of the sawmill and lumber finishing operation, according to a January press release from Efficiency Maine.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be $440,000, with annual savings projected to be nearly 909,000 kilowatt-hours per year, roughly the amount of energy used to power 140 Maine homes.
