Energy Saving Rebates Change for 2014

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa– If you are looking to upgrade your home this year, you should be aware that some energy saving rebates are no longer available.

Every five years, Alliant Energy has to come out with a new energy efficiency plan, in which they outline the rebates they will offer to customers. Some rebate programs were discontinued for 2014, while new ones became available.

If were planning on buying a new energy efficient refrigerator, stove, or other appliance this year and were counting on a rebate, you are out of luck. Alliant is no longer offering rebates on appliances, mostly because nearly all appliances now on the market are energy efficient, so there’s no point in offering incentives to encourage consumers to buy them.
