IBM Receives NYSERDA Grant, Wins Energy Project of the Year Award

Energy-saving project at IBM plant earns award

A project to upgrade semiconductor chip manufacturing at IBM’s East Fishkill plant with energy savings in mind earned the Energy Project of the Year Award from the New York Association of Energy Engineers.

The project resulted in annual savings of more than 21 million kilowatt hours of electricity.

IBM worked with Siemens to optimize the efficiency of the plant’s process chilled water system. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s Industrial and Process Efficiency Program supported the project with a $2.6 million payment. The program aims to help manufacturers reduce costs and increase productivity.
