Governor’s Mansion Gets an Efficiency Upgrade with Energy Trust of Oregon’s Help

Mahonia Hall, Oregon’s official governor’s residence, got an energy makeover last summer, and taxpayers already are seeing lower bills.

“I wasn’t sure we could do anything, given this was a historic house,” First Lady Cylvia Hayes said during a tour of the improvements Monday morning. “They did it while preserving the home’s character.”

Hayes joked that a former First Lady called the drafty, 90-year-old house “Pneumonia Hall.”
