Constellation NewEnergy officials said the upgrades in lighting, heating, cooling and other systems would pay for themselves in 16.3 years. With interest and financing costs, the project is $10.7 million.
Ted Hughes of Constellation said the plan includes new boilers and chillers at the high school. They would take more than 100 years to pay for themselves, but Hughes said the boilers and chillers are in such bad shape he recommended replacing them.
If the work doesn’t yield the projected savings in energy cost, Constellation will pay for the difference.
