BC’s New Code’s Two Paths Causing Confusion over Ventilation Rates

Energy standards require ASHRAE ventilation rates

I’ve just had a look at, Two paths for energy efficiency in updated B.C. Building Code, in the Dec. 18 issue of the Journal of Commerce.

I thought it might be helpful to provide some additional clarification that may be useful to your readers.

Whichever standard code users select to use, ASHRAE 90.1(2010) or NECB (2011), they will be required to use the ventilation rates in the B.C. Building Code, which are ASHRAE 62.1 (2001) with all amendments except addendum “n” and to use Canadian climate date published by Natural Resources Canada.
