State to provide $3.5 million for building efficiency programCapital New York, January 12, 2015
New York State will provide a $3.5 million grant to New York City, much of which will go to the Building Energy Exchange, a newly formed, non-profit designed to educate building owners on creating greater energy efficiency.
Some of the most important energy policy leaders in the city and state attended a reception Monday evening at the historic Surrogate’s Courthouse where the Building Energy Exchange is housed to ceremonially open the non-profit and announce the grant.
“The degree to which this is a model facility will be very helpful,” Kenneth Adams, head of the Empire State Development Corporation said in announcing the grant. “We see this as a critical piece of the overall state economic development mission.”
